My
line of the Pollet family can be traced back to Lisbon in Portugal
in the last half of the 18th century and before that to Poland. Two
generations of the Pollet family worked as jewellers to the King and
Queen of Portugal.
My 4x great grandmother Anne Pollet was born in Lisbon in 1779. In
1793 she was sent to England to be educated in Falmouth
in Cornwall and in 1798 married John Haydon Cardew
in Penryn (part of Falmouth) where he was clergyman. They had 15 children. |
