Matilda of Scotland (born as Edith of Scotland), married Henry
I in 1100, the year he became king. She was queen until her death
at Westminster
Palace
in
1118 and was buried in Westminster
Abbey.
Matilda's father had been the Scottish king, Malcolm III and her three
brothers: Edgar, Alexander and David all ascended the Scottish throne
as did a half-brother Duncan and so the marriage had ensured peace
between the two countries.
